Path Beyond Opioids Legal Aid Project
Project Overview
The “Path Beyond Opioids Legal Aid Project” supports holistic civil legal services to income-qualified North and West Texans who have been directly impacted by opioid use disorder. Aimed at bringing hope and help to individuals and families struggling with the aftermath of substance use disorder, the project offers direct legal services such as addressing legal barriers for people in recovery and their families, which includes helping them expunge or seal eligible criminal records or obtain a valid driver’s license so they can return to work. Other services include negotiating debt repayment plans and helping clients maintain stable housing and securing public benefits.
In addition to providing direct legal services, our staff works to raise awareness about the services provided under the grant, collaborates with community partners to identify and refer clients with civil legal problems, and holds specialized legal clinics and presentations.
